The LM20323 is a fully functional 500kHz synchronous buck regulator that provides a load capacity of up to 3A. The current mode controls loop compensation with only two external components while providing high performance and ease of use. The device is optimized to operate in the input voltage range of 4.5V to 36V, making it ideal for use in high-voltage systems.
The device has internal overvoltage protection (OVP) and overcurrent protection (OCP) circuitry to improve system reliability. Precise enabling pins and integrated UVLO implementation are tightly controlled and sequenced on the device. Start-up inrush current limit, both internally fixed and externally adjustable soft-start circuitry. Fault detection and power sequencing are made possible with integrated power ready (PGOOD) circuitry.
The design of this LM20323 works well on multi-rail power supplies. The output voltage of the device can be set to a higher voltage rail tracking using stainless steel/Tielck pins. If the LM20323 output is pre-biased when started, it will not absorb current pull until the internal soft-start ramp output low level exceeds the voltage at the feedback pin.
The LM20323 provided is a 20-pin eTSSOP package with exposed pads that can be soldered to printed circuit boards, eliminating the need for bulky heatsinks.
