The regulator's LM22673 series microcontrollers provide a buck active-acting (buck) switching regulator that drives up to 3A of superior voltage and load regulation characteristics for all integrated circuits. High efficiency ("90%) is achieved through the use of N-channel MOSFETs with low resistance. The series consists of a fixed 5V output and adjustable version.

In simple switches ® The concept provides an easy-to-use complete design using a minimum number of external components and state the WEBENCH ® Design tools. WEBENCH of National Semiconductor ® Tools include functions for external component calculation, electrical simulation, thermal simulation, etc., and build-IT boards for easy design. The clock switching frequency is made up of an internal fixed frequency oscillator that operates at 500 kHz. The LM22673 series also features built-in thermal shutdown and current limiting. The current limit threshold is adjustable with an external resistor. An adjustable soft-start function provides the selection of an appropriate external soft-start capacitor.
