The regulator's LM22680 series microcontroller provides a buck active-acting (buck) switching regulator to drive up to 2A with excellent line and load regulation characteristics for all integrated circuits. High efficiency ("90%) is achieved through the use of N-channel MOSFETs with low resistance.

In simple switches ® The concept provides an easy-to-use complete design using a minimum number of external components and state the WEBENCH ® Design tools. WEBENCH of National Semiconductor ® Tools include functions for external component calculation, electrical simulation, thermal simulation, etc., and build-IT boards for easy design. The clock switching frequency is made up of an internal fixed frequency oscillator that operates at 500 kHz. The switching frequency can also be adjusted or synchronized to an external clock up to 1MHz with an external resistor. It can also automatically synchronize operations with multiple regulatory bodies sharing the same switching frequency. The LM22680 series also features built-in thermal shutdown, current limit, and enable control inputs that can turn off the power regulator in a low 25μA quiescent current standby state. An adjustable soft-start function provides the selection of an appropriate external soft-start capacitor.
