The LM20123 is a full-featured 1.5 MHz synchronous buck regulator that provides up to 3A of continuous output current capability. Loop compensation is controlled in current mode and is stable with almost any type of output capacitor. In most cases, only two external elements are required for the compensation unit, providing maximum flexibility and ease of use. The device is optimized to operate over an input voltage range of 2.95V to 5.5V, making it a variable non-adaptation for a low-voltage system.

The device features overvoltage protection (OVP) and overcurrent protection (OCP) inside the circuit to improve system reliability. A high-precision enable pin and integrated UVLO allow for tight control and sequencing of the device. The starting inrush current limit is both internally fixed and externally adjustable soft-start circuitry. Fault detection and power sequencing are possible integrated power-good circuits.

The design of LM20123 works on the well-structured multi-rail power supply. The output voltage of the device can be set to a higher voltage rail tracking using SS/TRK pins. If the LM20123 output is pre-biased at start, it will not absorb current The output will pull low until the internal soft-start ramp exceeds the voltage at the feedback pin.

The LM20123 comes in a 16-pin eTSSOP package with bare pads that can be soldered to printed circuit boards, eliminating the need for bulky heatsinks.
