The Regulator's LM22673 series microcontrollers provide a step-down positive (step-down) switching regulator to drive all integrated circuits with load capacity of superior voltage and load regulation characteristics up to 3A. High efficiency ("90%) is obtained through the use of low-resistance N-channel MOSFETs. The series consists of a fixed 5V output and an adjustable version.

On a simple switch ® The concept provides an easy-to-use complete design with minimal number of external components and national WEBENCH ® Design tools. WEBENCH of National Semiconductor ® Tools include functions for external component calculations, electrical simulation, thermal simulation, etc., and build-up of IT boards for ease of design. The clock switching frequency is made by an internal fixed frequency oscillator, operating at 500 kHz. The LM22673 series also features built-in thermal shutdown and current limiting. The current limiting threshold can be adjusted by means of an external resistor. The adjustable soft-start feature provides the selection of an appropriate external soft-start capacitor.
