The active LM25061 hot-swap controller provides power to the voltage in the intelligently controlled circuitry card to insert and remove live system backplanes or other "hot" power loads. The LM25061 provides inrush current control to limit system voltage dips and transients. Current limit and power dissipation are programmable via external series N-channel MOSFETs to ensure operation in a safe operating area (SOA). A power good output indicates when the output voltage exceeds a programmable threshold. Depending on the input voltage level, hysteresis is programmable, as well as as initial insertion delay time and fault detection time. The LM25061-1 latching fault is detected after the LM25061-2 automatically restarts at a fixed duty cycle. The LM25061 is available in a 10-pin MSOP package.
