LM25088 high-voltage asynchronous buck controller has all the necessary features to enable efficient high-voltage buck converters with minimal number of external components. LM25088 configurable operation with an ultra-wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 42V. This easy-to-use controller, including a horizontally shifted gate driver, is capable of controlling an external N-channel buck switch. The control method is based on peak current mode control utilizing a simulated current ramp. The sensitivity of the pulse-width modulation circuit using analog control ramps to reduce noise allows for very small duty cycles necessary for reliable control in high input voltage/low output voltage applications. LM25088 programmable switching frequency from 50 kHz to 1 megahertz.

LM25088 is available in two versions: the LM25088-1 provides A+/-5% frequency jitter to reduce conducted and radiated EMI, while the LM25088-2 provides a multi-function overload protection restart timer. Other features include a low-dropout bias regulator, three-level enable input control shutdown and standby mode, soft-start, and oscillator synchronization functions. The device is available in a thermally enhanced TSSOP - 16EP pin package.
