LM25116 is a synchronous buck controller that extends from a wide range of applications from high-voltage buck regulators or input power supplies. The control method is based on the current pattern, using a simulated current ramp control. Current mode control provides circuit-specific feedforward, cycle current limiting, and simplified loop compensation. The sensitivity of the pulse-width modulation circuit to reduce noise using an emulation control ramp allows for very small duty cycles necessary for reliable control in high input voltage applications. Programmable operating frequency from 50kHz to 1MHz. LM25116 drive's adaptive dead time control for high-side and low-side external NMOS power switches. User-selectable diode emulation mode allows for intermittent mode operation under light load conditions for increased efficiency. Low quiescent current shutdown disables the controller and total input current consumption is less than 10μA. Other features include a high-voltage bias regulator that automatically switches external bias for improved efficiency, thermal shutdown, frequency synchronization, cyclic current limiting, and adjustable line undervoltage lockout. The enhanced TSSOP-20 package is available in power devices with an exposed chip bonding pad to help dissipate heat.
