The LM25116 is a synchronous buck controller that ranges from high voltage buck regulators to a wide range of applications or input power supplies. The control method is based on the current mode, using an analog current ramp control. Current-mode control provides line-intrinsic feed-forward, cyclic cycle current limiting, and simplified loop compensation. The sensitivity of the pulse-width modulation circuit using the analog control ramp to reduce noise allows for very small duty cycles necessary for reliable control in high input voltage applications. Programmable operating frequency from 50kHz to 1MHz. The LM25116 driver adapts high-side and low-side external NMOS power switches for dead-time control. User-selectable diode emulation modes allow intermittent operation at light loads to improve efficiency. Low quiescent current shutdown disables the controller and the total input current consumption is less than 10μA. Other features include a high voltage bias regulator that automatically switches external biases for efficiency, thermal shutdown, frequency synchronization, cyclic cycle current limit, and adjustable line undervoltage lockout. Enhanced TSSOP-20 packages are available in power equipment with an exposed die bonding pad to aid in heat dissipation.
