This series of regulators LM2574 monolithic integrated circuit provides all buck active functions (buck) switching regulators, driving an excellent line and load regulation with a load capacity of 0.5A. These devices are available in fixed output voltages of 3.3V and 5V and 12V, 15V, and adjustable output versions.
Requiring a minimum number of external components, these regulators are simple to use, with built-in frequency compensation and fixed-frequency oscillators.
The LM2574 series offers a popular high efficiency alternative to 3-terminal linear regulators. Due to its high efficiency, copper wires on printed circuit boards are usually only required to dissipate heat.
The future standard for the LM2574 inductor series optimized for use can be obtained from several different manufacturers. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switching power supplies.
Other features include ± guaranteed 4% tolerance of voltage and ± 10% oscillator frequency under specified output input voltage and output load conditions. External shutdown is included with 50μA (typical) standby current. The output switch includes cycle-by-cycle current limit and adequate protection against thermal shutdown during fault conditions.
