illustrate
The regulator LM2590HV series is a monolithic integrated circuit that provides all buck active function (buck) switching regulators, driving an excellent line and load regulation with 1A load capability. These devices are available in fixed output voltages of 3.3V, 5V and adjustable output versions.
This switching regulator series is similar to the LM2591HV with other features and performance monitoring.
Requiring a minimum number of external components, these regulators are simple to use, built-in frequency compensation †, improved line and load specifications, fixed frequency oscillators, shutdown/soft-start, output error flags, and flag delays.
The LM2590HV operates at a switching frequency of 150 kHz, making it smaller than the low frequency switching regulator that requires a filter element. Several different lead bend options are available in a standard 7-pin TO-220 package, as well as a 7-pin TO-263 surface mount package.
Other features include a pair of output voltage guaranteed ± error of about 4%, all conditions of input voltage and output load conditions, and ± oscillator frequency of 15%. External shutdown is included with a typical 90μA standby current. Self-protection features include a two-stage output switch and a complete protection against current limiting during overtemperature shutdown fault conditions.
