The LM2592HV series regulators are monolithic integrated circuits that provide positive buck (buck) switching regulators that provide excellent line and load regulation for all functions of driving a 2A load. These devices are available in fixed output voltages in 3.3V, 5V, and adjustable output versions.
This series of switching regulators is similar to the LM2593HV, but does not have the regulatory and performance characteristics of the latter.
Requiring a minimum number of external components, these regulators are simple to use, include internal frequency compensation †, improved line and load specifications, and fixed-frequency oscillators.
The LM2592HV operates at a switching frequency of 150 kHz, thus making the smaller size with the lower frequency switching regulator required for the filter assembly. Available in a standard 5-pin TO-220 package with several different bending options, as well as a 5-pin TO-263 surface mount package.
Other features include guaranteed 4% tolerance under all conditions under input voltage and output load conditions ± output voltage, and 15% frequency ± oscillator. Includes external shutdown, typically with 90μA standby current. Self-protection features include two-stage current limit for complete protection during output switching and overtemperature shutdown fault conditions.
