Voltage Regulator LM2595 Series Buck Switching Regulator (Buck) drives an excellent line and load regulation 1A load capability, providing monolithic integrated circuits for all active functions. These devices are available in 3.3V, 5V, 12V, and adjustable output versions with fixed output voltages.

Requiring a minimal number of external components, these regulators are easy to use, include an internal frequency compensation †, and a fixed frequency oscillator.

The LM2595 series switches at 150 kHz, thus enabling smaller sizes with lower frequency switching regulators required filter components. In a standard 5-pin TO-220 package with several different options that result in bending, and a 5-pin TO-263 surface-mount package. Typically, an output voltage of less than 12V and an ambient temperature of less than 50°C are required.

The standard inductor series can be produced from several different manufacturers optimized for the LM2595 series used. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switching power supplies.

Other features include a guaranteed tolerance of 4% of the output voltage under ± specified input voltage and output load conditions, as well as a ± of 15% of the oscillator frequency. External shutdown is included and has a typical standby current of 85μA. Self-protection features include two-stage frequency reduction output switching and current limiting, complete protection in over-temperature shutdown fault conditions.
