The LM2621 is a high efficiency, step-up DC-DC switch for battery-powered and low input voltage system regulators. It accepts an input voltage of 1.2V and 14V to convert to a regulated output voltage. The output voltage is adjustable between 1.24V and 14V. It has an internal 0.17 N-channel MOSFET power switch. Efficiencies of up to 90% are achievable with the LM2621.

The high switching frequency of the LM2621 (adjustable to 2MHz) allows the use of tiny surface mount inductors and capacitors. Due to the unique constant duty cycle gated oscillator topology, very high efficiency is achieved over a wide load range. This supply current drops to 80μA due to BiCMOS process technology. In shutdown mode, the supply current is less than 2.5μA.

The LM2621 is available in a small SO-8 package. This package uses a standard 8-pin SO with half the board area and a height of just 1.09 mm.
