The LM26420 regulator is a monolithic, high frequency, dual PWM step-down DC/DC 16-pin LLP and 20-pin eTSSOP package conversion. It offers all the positive features, providing local DC/DC fast transient response and precise adjustment conversion with minimal PCB area. With minimal external component count, the LM26420 is easy to use. The driver has the capability of a state-of-the-art 0.5 micron BiCMOS technology with its internal 75mΩ PMOS tube top switch and an internal 50 mΩ NMOS switch at the bottom of the highest power density available state with a 2.0A load. World-class control circuitry allows high frequency conversion from 0.8V to the lowest output voltage from 0.8V across the entire abnormal 3V to 5.5V input voltage range. The switching frequency is internally set to 550 kHz or 2.2 MHz, allowing for very small surface mount inductors and capacitors. Despite the high operating frequency, efficiency up to 93% is easily achievable. External shutdown is included with ultra-low standby current. The LM26420 uses current mode control with internal compensation to provide high performance regulation over a wide range of operating conditions. Other features include internal soft-start circuitry to reduce inrush current, pulse pass-through pulse current limiting, thermal shutdown, power good indicator, precision enable, and output overvoltage protection.
