The regulator LM26420 a single-chip, high-frequency, dual PWM step-down DC/DC converter in a 16-pin LLP and 20-pin eTSSOP package. It offers all the positive features, providing fast transient response and minimal PCB area to precisely regulate local DC/DC conversion. With minimal external components, LM26420 is easy to use. The technology that enables the optimal power density of the state-of-the-art 0.5 μm BiCMOS process with the ability to drive a 75mΩ switch on top and an internal 50Mω NMOS switch on the bottom provides two 2.0A loads. The world-class control circuitry achieves chip-folds as low as 30ns, thus supporting very high output voltages down to a minimum of 0.8V over the entire conversion 3V to 5.5V input operating voltage range. The switching frequency is set internally to 550 kHz or 2.2 MHz, allowing for the use of very small surface mount inductors and chip capacitors. Even at high operating frequencies, up to 93% efficiency is easily achieved. External shutdown is included with ultra-low standby current. LM26420 uses functions such as current mode control and internal compensation, and the wide range of operating conditions is highly stable. Other features include internal soft-start circuitry to reduce inrush current, pulse through pulse current limiting, thermal shutdown, power good indicator, precision enable and overvoltage protection output.
