TheLM2674 series regulators are monolithic integrated circuits with a built-in LMDMOS process. These regulators provide all buck (buck) switching regulators with excellent line and load regulation positive functions at 500 mA to regulate load current. These devices are available in 3.3V fixed output voltage, 5.0V, 12V adjustable output versions.
Requiring a minimum number of external components, these regulators are simple to use and include patented internal frequency compensation (patent numbers 5382918 and 5514947) and fixed frequency oscillators.
The LM2674 series operates at a switching frequency of 260 kHz, thus enabling a small size ratio to the filter assembly required by a lower frequency switching regulator. Due to its very high efficiency (> 90%), the copper trace of the printed circuit board is the only heat dissipation need.
LM2674 standard inductors for home use, available from several different manufacturers. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switching power supplies, which are supplied using these advanced integrated circuits. Also included in the datasheet is a selection guide for designing diodes and capacitors for switch-mode power supplies.
Other features include a guaranteed tolerance of 1.5% of the output voltage for specified input voltage and output load conditions within the ±, and a ± 10% of the oscillator frequency. External shutdown with a typical standby current of 50μA. The output switches include current limiting, thermal shutdown, and adequate protection in fault conditions.
