The LM2675 series of regulators are monolithic integrated circuits with a built-in LMDMOS process. These regulators offer all positive buck (buck) switching regulators capable of driving 1A load current with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available in fixed output voltages of 3.3V, 5.0V, 12V, and adjustable output versions.
Requiring a minimum number of external components, these regulators are simple to use, including patented internal frequency compensation (patent 5382918 and 5514947) and fixed frequency oscillators.
The LM2675 series operates at a switching frequency of 260 kHz, allowing the smaller size to be associated with the lower frequency switching regulator required for the filter assembly. Due to its very high efficiency (> 90%), copper traces of the printed circuit board are the only heat dissipation required.
A home use LM2675 standard inductor is available from several different manufacturers. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switching power supplies using these advanced integrated circuit supplies. Also included in the datasheet is a guide to selecting diodes and capacitors designed to operate in switch-mode power supplies.
Other features include a guaranteed tolerance of 1.5% of the output voltage specified in the ± and output load conditions for the input voltage and output load conditions, and a ± 10% of the oscillator frequency. External shutdown with a typical standby current of 50μA. The output switch includes current limit, thermal shutdown, and full protection during fault conditions.
