The LM2676 series regulator provides a positive action of step-down (buck) switching regulators for monolithic driving of all integrated circuits with load capacity of superior voltage and load regulation characteristics up to 3A. High efficiency ("90%) is obtained through the use of low-resistance DMOS power switches. The series includes 3.3V, 5V, and 12V and adjustable output versions with fixed output voltages.

The concept of a simple switch provides a complete design with minimal use of external elements. The high fixed frequency oscillator (260KHz) allows the use of smaller size components. A family of standard inductors for the LM2676 can be from several manufacturers, greatly simplifying the design process.

The LM2676 series also features built-in thermal shutdown, current limiting, and on/off control for low quiescent current standby state with adjustment to 50μA. The output voltage is guaranteed to be ± 2% error. The clock frequency is controlled to a tolerance of ± 11%.
