TheLM2679 Series Regulators are monolithic integrated circuits that provide step-down switching regulators capable of driving excellent line and load regulation characteristics with 5A load (buck) all the positive functions. High efficiency (> 90%) is obtained by using a low-on-resistance DMOS power switch. The series includes fixed output voltages of 3.3V, 5V and 12V and adjustable output versions.

The concept of the SIMPLE SWITCHER provides a complete design with the use of a minimum number of external components. A higher fixed frequency oscillator (260KHz) allows the use of smaller size components. A standard inductor used in the LM2679 series is available from several manufacturers, greatly simplifying the design process.

Other features include the inclusion of a soft-start timing capacitor to gradually turn on the regulator's ability to input inrush current at power-up. The LM2679 series also features built-in thermal shutdown and resistive programmable current limit power MOSFET switches for protection devices and load circuit failures. The output voltage is guaranteed to be a tolerance of ± 2%. The clock frequency is controlled at tolerance ± 11%.
