This series of voltage regulators, LM2576, provides all buck active function (buck) switching regulators on a single chip, with excellent driving line and load regulation 3A load capacity IC. These devices are available in fixed output voltages of 3.3V and 5V and 12V, 15V, and adjustable output versions.
Requiring a minimum number of external components, these regulators are simple to use, with built-in frequency compensation and fixed-frequency oscillators.
The LM2576 series offers a popular high-efficiency alternative to three-terminal linear regulators. It greatly reduces the size of the heatsink, and in some cases, no heatsink is necessary.
Future standards for the LM2576 inductor series optimized for use can be obtained from several different manufacturers. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switching power supplies.
Other features include ± guaranteed 4% tolerance of voltage and ± 10% oscillator frequency under specified output input voltage and output load conditions. External shutdown is included with 50μA (typical) standby current. The output switch includes cycle-by-cycle current limit and adequate protection against thermal shutdown during fault conditions.
