The LM2576 series of voltage regulators provides all buck-active (buck-boost) switching regulators with excellent driving lines and load regulation 3A load capacity ICs. These devices are available in 3.3V and 5V and 12V fixed output voltages, 15V, and adjustable output versions.

Requiring a minimum number of external components, these regulators are simple to use, with built-in frequency compensation and a fixed frequency oscillator.

The LM2576 series offers a high-efficiency alternative to the popular three-terminal linear regulator. It significantly reduces the size of the heatsink, and in some cases, the absence of a heatsink is necessary.

The future LM2576 inductor series standard optimized for use can be obtained from several different manufacturers. This feature greatly simplifies the design of switching power supplies.

Other features include ± guaranteed voltage tolerance of 4% and ± oscillator frequency of 10% under specified output input voltage and output load conditions. External shutdown is included and has a standby current of 50μA (typical). The output switches include cycle-by-cycle current limiting, as well as adequate protection for thermal shutdown in fault conditions.
