The LM2738 regulator is a monolithic, high-frequency, PWM step-down DC/DC conversion in an 8-pin LLP or 8-pin eMSOP package. It offers all local DC/DC conversion positive features with fast transient response and precise adjustment in the smallest possible PCB area.

With minimal external components, the LM2738 is easy to use. The internal 250mΩNMOS drive capability of the 1.5A load switch uses state-of-the-art 0.5 micron BiCMOS technology at optimal power density. The switching frequency is set internally (LM2738Y) to 550kHz or 1.6MHz (LM2738X), allowing for the use of extremely small surface-mount inductors and capacitors. Even at very high operating frequencies, efficiencies of up to 90% are easy to achieve. Includes external enable with ultra-low standby current of 400nA. The LM2738 uses current mode control and internal compensation to provide a wide range of operating conditions with high-performance regulation. Other features include an internal soft-start circuit to reduce inrush current, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, thermal shutdown, and output overvoltage protection.
