The LM2830 regulator is a monolithic, high-frequency, PWM step-down DC/DC converter in a 5-pin SOT23 package and a 6-pin LLP package. It provides all the active functions, provides fast transient response and precisely regulates local DC/DC conversion with the smallest possible PCB area. With minimal external components, the LM2830 is easy to use. The 1.0A load drive capability and the internal 130 mOhm PMOS switch are the best power density of the state-of-the-art 0.5 micron BiCMOS process in use. The world-class control circuitry allows for a time as low as 30ns, thus supporting the entire 3V frequency conversion with a minimum output voltage range of 0.6V to 5.5V input voltage range. Internally set to a switching frequency of 1.6 MHz or 3.0 MHz, allowing for the use of extremely small surface-mount inductors and capacitors. Even at high operating frequencies, efficiency of up to 93% is easy to achieve. External shutdown is included and has an ultra-low standby current of 30 nA. The LM2830 uses current mode control and internal compensation to provide a wide range of operating conditions with high-performance regulation. Other features include an internal soft-start circuit to reduce inrush current, pulse through pulse current limiting, thermal shutdown, and output overvoltage protection.
