The LM2830 regulator is a monolithic, high-frequency, PWM step-down DC/DC converter in a 5-pin SOT23 package and a 6-pin LLP package. It provides all active functions, provides fast transient response, and precisely adjusts local DC/DC conversion with the smallest possible PCB area. With minimal external components, the LM2830 is easy to use. A load drive capability with an internal 130 mOhm PMOS switch uses state-of-the-art 0.5 micron BiCMOS process for optimal power density technology. World-class control circuitry allows a time as low as 30ns, allowing very high frequency conversion over the entire 3V frequency with a minimum output voltage range of 0.6V to 5.5V. An internal switching frequency of 1.6 MHz or 3.0 MHz allows the use of very small surface mount inductors and capacitors. Even with high operating frequencies, efficiencies as high as 93% are easily achievable. External shutdown is included with an ultra-low standby current of 30 nA. The LM2830 uses current mode control and internal compensation to provide high-performance regulation of a wide range of operating conditions. Other features include internal soft-start circuitry to reduce inrush current, pulse-pass pulse current limiting, thermal shutdown, and output overvoltage protection.
