The LM2831 regulator is a monolithic, high-frequency, PWM step-down DC/DC converter in a 5-pin SOT23 package and a 6-pin LLP package. It offers all the positive features, providing fast transient response and precise adjustment of local DC/DC conversion in the smallest possible PCB area. The world-class control circuitry allows for a time as low as 30ns, thus supporting the entire 3V frequency conversion with a minimum output voltage range of 0.6V to 5.5V input voltage range. Internally set to 550 kHz, switching frequencies of 1.6 MHz or 3.0 MHz allow for the use of very small surface-mount inductors and capacitors. Even at high operating frequencies, efficiency of up to 93% is easy to achieve. External shutdown is included and has an ultra-low standby current of 30 nA. The LM2831 uses current mode control and internal compensation to provide a wide range of operating conditions with high-performance regulation. Other features include an internal soft-start circuit to reduce inrush current, pulse through pulse current limiting, thermal shutdown, and output overvoltage protection.
