The LM2833 regulator is a monolithic, high-frequency, PWM step-down DC/DC converter in a 10-pin LLP or eMSOP package. It contains all active functions, providing fast transient response and precise adjustment of local DC/DC conversion in the smallest possible PCB area. With minimal external components, the LM2833 is easy to use. The state-of-the-art 0.5 μm BiCMOS process technology with a 3.0A load drive capability and an internal 56 milliom PMOS switch in use provides the best power density results. The world-class control circuitry allows for a time as low as 30ns, thus supporting the entire 3V frequency conversion with a minimum output voltage range of 0.6V to 5.5V input voltage range. The switching frequency is set internally to 1.5MHz or 3.0MHz, allowing for the use of extremely small surface mount inductors and capacitors. Even at high operating frequencies, efficiency of up to 93% is easy to achieve. Includes external shutdown with ultra-low standby current of 300nA. The LM2833 provides high-performance regulation for a wide range of operating conditions with peak current mode control and internal compensation. Other features include internal soft-start circuitry to reduce inrush current, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, frequency foldback, thermal shutdown, and output overvoltage protection.
