PowerWise on LM2854 ® SIMPLE SWITCHER ® The buck regulator is a 500 kHz or 1 MHz buck switching regulator that drives up to a load capacity of 4A with excellent power conversion efficiency, line and load regulation, and output accuracy. The LM2854 can accept input voltage rails between 2.95V and 5.5V and provides adjustable output voltages as low as 0.8V and highly accurate. Externally established soft start with a small capacitor that is conducive to controlling the start and LM2854 is the ability to start entering the pre-bias output voltage normally. Partial internal compensation reduces external passive components and printed circuit board space, typically required in voltage mode step-down converter applications, but maintains flexibility to cope with ceramic and/or electrolytic load capacitance. The lossless cycle-by-cycle peak current limit is used to protect against overcurrent or short-circuit fault loads, enabling comparators to simplify sequencing applications. The LM2854 is available in a TSSOP-16 package with exposed pads, improving the performance of the voltage regulator.
