The LM2991 is a low dropout adjustable with negative regulation of an output voltage range of -3V to -24V. The LM2991 provides up to 1A load current and functionality, and a remote shutdown function with an on/off pin^.
Using new circuit design techniques, the LM2991 provides a precision reference for low dropout voltage, low quiescent current, and low temperature coefficient. The low dropout voltage of 1A load current is typically 0.6V and a worst-case maximum of 1V over the entire operating temperature range. The quiescent current is a load current of 1 A, typically 1 mA with an input-output voltage difference greater than 3V. A unique circuit design with an internally biased supply limits quiescent current to only 9 mA (typical) when regulated dropout mode (V OUT - V IN ≤ 3V).
The LM2991 is short-circuit protected and thermally shut down to improve equipment reliability when overloaded for long periods of time, inadvertently including hysteresis. The LM2991 is available in 5-pin TO-220 and TO-263 packages and is rated for operation in an automotive grade temperature range of -40°C to +125°C The Mingkang Aero version is also available.
