ON LM3150 SIMPLE SWITCHER ® The controller is a power controller that provides an output current of 12A in a typical application that enables easy use and simplified steps. At 6V - 42V for commercial use, the LM3150 has an adjustable output voltage that drops to an input voltage range of 0.6V. The switching frequency is adjustable to 1 MHz and the synchronous architecture is designed to provide high efficiency. The LM3150 controller uses proprietary simulated ripple mode (ERM) control for low ESR output capacitors, thereby reducing overall solution size and output voltage ripple allowing a fixed on-time (COT) architecture. The fixed on-time (COT) regulatory architecture enables fast transient response without loop compensation, reducing external component count and design complexity.
Features such as thermal shutdown, undervoltage lockout, overvoltage protection, short-circuit protection, current limiting, output voltage fault protection, and prebias startup allow for a reliable and robust solution.
ON LM3150 SIMPLE SWITCHER ® The concept provides an easy-to-use complete design using minimal external component count and National Semiconductor's WEBENCH ® Online design tools. WEBENCH ® Provides design support at every step of the design process, including functions such as a new MOSFET selector, electrical simulation, thermal simulation, prototyping, and calculation of components external to the board.
