The LM3203 is a DC-to-DC converter optimized for RF power amplifiers (PAs) powered from a single lithium-ion battery. However, they can be used in many other applications. Input voltage from 2.7V to 5.5V and adjustable output voltage from 0.8V to 3.6V. The output voltage is set using a V CON analog input and an external resistor divider that optimizes the efficiency of the RF PA at different power levels.

The LM3203 offers 3 modes for mobile phones and similar RF PA applications. Fixed-frequency PWM mode minimizes RF interference. Bypassing the internal bypass switching power supply from the battery's PA direct mode will. Shutdown mode shuts down the device, reducing power consumption to 0.1μA (typical).

The LM3203 is available in a 10-pin lead-free micro SMD package. The high switching frequency (up to 2MHz) allows for the use of tiny surface-mount components.
