The LM3208 is a DC-to-DC converter optimized for RF power amplifiers (PAs) powered from a single lithium-ion battery. However, it can be used in many other applications. The input voltage in the off-stage range ranges from 2.7V to 5.5V to adjustable output voltage from 0.8V to 3.6V. The output voltage controls the power level and efficiency of the RF power amplifier by using a VCON analog input.

The LM3208 mobile phone and similar RF PA applications provide superior performance. Fixed-frequency PWM operating mode minimizes RF interference. The shutdown function shuts down the device, reducing power consumption to 0.01μA (typical).

The LM3208 is available in an 8-pin lead-free micro-SMD package. High switching frequency (typical of 2 MHz.) ) allows for the use of tiny surface mount components. Only three small external surface mount components, an inductor and two ceramic capacitors, are required.
