The LM3401 is a switching controller designed with high-power LEDs to provide constant current. The LM3401 driver is an external P-MOSFET switch for buck (buck) regulators. The LM3401 offers constant current accuracy at ± 6%, a wide variety of LEDs and a number of LEDs in series. A high-power LED with an output current of more than 1A drives an external current sensing resistor adjustment.

For improved accuracy and efficiency, the LM3401 features double-ended hysteresis, very low reference voltages, and short propagation delays. A cyclic current limit provides protection against overcurrent and short-circuit faults. Other features include CMOS-compatible input pins for adjustable hysteresis and PWM dimming.
