LM3405A is a 1A constant current step-down LED driver designed to provide a simple, efficient solution for driving high-power LEDs. A 0.205V reference voltage feedback control minimizes power consumption and an external resistor sets the current for driving the LEDs' various needs. The switching frequency is set internally to 1.6MHz, allowing the use of small surface mount inductors and capacitors to be used. LM3405A current mode control and internal compensation provide easy-to-use and predictable, high-performance regulation over a wide range of operating conditions. With a maximum input voltage of 22V, it can drive up to 5 high-brightness series LEDs with a forward current of 1A and a follow-up LED forward voltage of about 3.7V. Other features include LEDs for enabled and PWM dimming, thermal shutdown, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and user-accessible EN/DIM pins for overcurrent protection.
