The LM3410 constant current LED driver is a monolithic, high frequency, PVM DC/DC converter using a 5-pin SOT23, a 6-pin LLP, and an 8-pin eMSOP package. With minimal external components, the LM3410 is easy to use. It can drive the peak current of a typical 2.8A internal NMOS switch of 170mΩ. The switching frequency is internally set to 525 kHz or 1.60 MHz, allowing the use of very small surface mount inductors and chip capacitors. Even with high operating frequencies, efficiencies as high as 88% are easily achievable. External shutdown is included with an ultra-low standby current of 80 nA. The LM3410 adopts functions such as current mode control and internal compensation, and is highly effective in a wide range of operating conditions. Other features include dimming, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and thermal shutdown.
