The LM3414 and LM3414HV are 1A 60W* common anode capable constant current buck LED drivers. They are ideal for driving 3W single-string HBLED with up to 96% efficiency. They accept input voltages from 4.5VDC to 65VDC and deliver LEDs up to 1A with an average accuracy of ± 3%. Integrated low-side N-channel power MOSFETs and current sensing element implementations are required because there is no bootstrap capacitor and no external current sense resistor required simple and low component count circuitry. An external small-signal resistor to ground provides very fine LED current regulation, analog dimming, and thermal foldback.

Constant switching frequency operation simplifies EMI. No external loop compensation network is necessary. Proprietary pulse level modulation (PLM) controls the benefits of high conversion efficiency and true average LED current regulation methods. Fast response time to achieve excellent LED current pulses fulfills 240 Hz with 256 levels of dimming resolution for general lighting requirements.
