The LM3414 and LM3414HV are 1A 60W* common anode capable of constant current step-down LED driver. They are ideal for driving 3W single string HBLEDs up to 96% efficiency. They accept input voltages from 4.5VDC to 65VDC and provide LEDs up to 1A with an average accuracy of ±3%. Integrated low-end N-channel power MOSFETs and current-sensing elements are implemented because there are no bootstrap capacitors and external current sensing resistors that must be simple and low component count circuitry. The external small signal resistor provides very fine LED current regulation, analog dimming, and thermal foldback functions.

Constant switching frequency operation simplifies EMI. A compensated network without an external loop is necessary. Proprietary Pulse Level Modulation (PLM) controls the benefits of high conversion efficiency and true average LED current regulation methods. Fast response time, excellent LED current pulse fulfills the requirements of 240 Hz 256 levels dimming resolution for general lighting.

The LM3414 and LM3414HV are available in ePSOP-8 and LLP-8 packages of 3mm x 3mm.
