They can be easily configured for buck, boost, buck-boost and SEPIC topologies. This flexibility, along with a 75V rated input voltage, makes the LM3421/23 ideal for a large number of applications for home lighting LEDs. Adjustable high-side current detection voltage makes the tension-regulated LED current most efficient. The LM3421/23 uses Predictive Shutdown Time (Professional) Control, a combination of peak current mode control and predictive shutdown timer. This control approach simplifies loop compensation design while providing inherent input voltage feedforward compensation. The LM3421/23 unit includes a high-voltage start-up regulator over a wide input voltage range of 4.5V to 75V. The design of the internal PWM controller with adjustable switching frequency up to 2.0 MHz makes for a compact solution. Other features include "zero current" shutdown, analog dimming, PWM dimming, overvoltage protection, undervoltage lockout, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and thermal shutdown. The LM3423 also includes LED output status flags, fault flags, a programmable fault timer, and logic input to select the polarity of the output driver for dimming. LM3421Q1/23Q1 is AEC-Q100 Level 1 qualified and LM3421Q0/23Q0 AEC-Q100 Level 0 qualified. apply
