The LM3431 is a three-channel linear current controller that drives the ideal push combination of LED backlit panels for critical applications in the space of switching controllers. The LM3431 driver's 3 external NPN transistors or MOSFETs provide a constant current with high accuracy in a string of 3 LEDs. Adjustable output current to drive 200 mA excess string. The LM3431 can be expanded to drive up to 6 LED strings.

A step driven by a boost controller to regulate an external NFET switch from an input voltage between 5V and 36V. The LM3431 features LED cathode feedback adjustment space to minimize and optimize efficiency.

A DIM input pin controls the brightness of the LED from analog or digital control signals. Dimming frequencies up to 25 kHz may have a contrast ratio of 100:1. Contrast ratio greater than 1000:1 is more likely at lower dimming frequencies.

The LM3431 eliminates noise issues during LED dimming that maintains a constant output voltage-regulated LED. Other features include LED short-circuit and open-circuit protection, fault delay/error flagging, cycle limiting by cyclic current, and thermal shutdown for both IC and LED arrays. Enhanced LM3431A features reduce offset higher accuracy voltge LED current.
