The LM3477/A is a high-side N-channel MOSFET switching regulator controller. It can be used in topology requirements such as buck, reversal (buck-boost) and high-side MOSFET zeta regulation. The LM3477/A's internal push-pull driver allows for a wide range of MOSFET compatibility. In this regard, the wide input voltage range, discrete power devices, and adjustable current limiting allow the LM3477/A to be used in a wide range of applications.

The LM3477/A uses a high switching frequency of 500kHz to reduce the overall solution size. Current mode control, only one resistor and capacitor frequency compensation is required. The current mode architecture also features superior voltage and load regulation and cycle-by-cycle current limiting. A 5μA shutdown state for energy saving and power sequencing. Other features include an internal soft-start and overvoltage protection output. Internal soft start reduces inrush current. Overvoltage protection is a safety feature that ensures that the output voltage stays on regulated ground.

The LM3477A is similar to the LM3477. The main difference between the two is at which point the device transitions into hysteresis mode. This LM3477A one-third of the hysteresis threshold of LM3477.
