The LM3477/A is a high-side N-channel MOSFET switching regulator controller. It can be used in topologies that require a high-side MOSFET, such as buck, inversion (buck-boost), and zeta regulation. The LM3477/A's internal push-pull driver allows for broad compatibility with MOSFETs. This, wide input voltage range, discrete power components and adjustable current limit allow the LM3477/one optimized for multiple applications.
The LM3477/A uses a switching frequency of 500KHz to reduce the overall solution size. Current-mode control requires only one frequency compensation resistor and capacitor. A current-mode architecture with superior line and load regulation and cycle-by-cycle current limiting. The 5μA shutdown state can be sequenced with power savings and power supply. Other features include internal soft-start and output overvoltage protection. Internal soft-start reduces inrush current. Overvoltage protection is a safety feature to ensure that the output voltage remains internally regulated.
The LM3477A is similar to the LM3477. The main difference between the two is the point in which the device enters hysteresis mode transition. A third of the hysteresis threshold of the LM3477A LM3477.
