The LM3480 is an integrated linear regulator. Its features such as 30V and 1.2V guarantee a maximum load of 100 mA dropout input operation. The standard package for the LM3480 is a 3-lead SuperSOT ® package.
The members of the 5, 12 and 15V LM3480 series are intended as tiny replacements for the industry standard LM78LXX series and similar devices. The LM3480 series devices are well suited for many applications in which the 2 to 2.5V dropout LM78LXX series devices exclude them (LM78LXX series devices).
The LM3480 series features a 3.3V member. The SOT package and quasi-low dropout characteristics of the LM3480 series converge on this device to provide a nice, very tiny 3.3V, 100mA bias power supply that is regulated to shut down the system directly 5V ± 5% supply.
