The LM3481 is a versatile low-side n-FET switching regulator for high performance controllers. It is suitable for low-end FETs that require an LM3481 that can operate at very high switching frequencies to reduce overall solution size, such as boost, flyback, SEPIC, etc., in topologies. The switching frequency of the LM3481 can be adjusted to any value between 100 kHz and 1 MHz using an external resistor or synchronizing to an external clock. In addition to cycle-by-cycle current limiting, current-mode control provides superior bandwidth and transient response. The current limit can be programmed with an external resistor.

The LM3481 has built-in protection functions such as thermal shutdown, short-circuit protection, and overvoltage protection. A power-down shutdown mode provides 5μA total supply current and allows power sequencing. Internal soft-start limits inrush current at startup.
