The LM3488 is a versatile low-side n-FET switching regulator high-performance controller. This is suitable for topologies that require low-end FETs such as boost, flyback, SEPIC, etc., in addition, the LM3488 can be operated at very high switching frequencies to reduce the overall solution size. The switching frequency of the LM3488 can be adjusted to any value between 100kHz and 1MHz by using an external resistor or synchronizing to an external clock. Current mode control provides superior bandwidth and transient response, in addition to cycle-by-cycle current limiting. The output current can be programmed with a single external resistor.

The LM3488 has built-in features such as thermal shutdown, short-circuit protection, and overvoltage protection. The power-saving shutdown mode reduces the total supply current by 5μA and allows for power sequencing. Internal soft start limits inrush current at start-up.
