The LM3489 is a high-efficiency PFET switching regulator controller that can be used to quickly and easily develop small, cost-effective, swap buck regulators for a wide range of applications. Hysteresis control architecture for the stability of the control loop without any use of external components, a wide variety of attention to simple design. The PFET architecture also allows for low component counts, as well as ultra-low dropout 100% duty cycle operation. Another benefit is high efficiency at light loads, eliminating the need to increase the output ripple of the operation. A dedicated enable pin provides a shutdown mode diagram of only 7μA. Leaving the Enable Pin Dover defaults to on.

Current limit protection allows the voltage of the R DS(ON) of the measured PFET to be realized, thus eliminating the need for detection resistance. Detection resistors can be used to improve existing limitations if required accuracy. At cycle-by-cycle current limit, one resistor is adjustable to ensure safe operation within the output current range.
