The LM3489 is a high-efficiency switching regulator controller from PFET that can be used to quickly and easily develop small, cost-effective, switching buck regulators for a wide range of applications. Hysteresis control architectures provide a simple design without any control loop stability, using a wide variety of external components to focus on. The PFET's architecture also allows for low component counts, as well as ultra-low dropouts, and 100% duty cycle operation. Another benefit is that the increased output ripple is highly efficient at light loads without operation. A dedicated enable pin provides a shutdown mode with a drawing of only 7μA. Leave the enable pin default.

The R DS(ON) current limit protection function of the voltage measurement PFET can be implemented, thus eliminating the need for a detector to detect the resistor. A sense resistor can be used to improve existing current limiting accuracy, if needed. Cycle-by-cycle current limit, the output current range of one resistor can be adjusted to ensure safe operation.
