The LM3535 is a highly integrated LED driver driven by a large parallel 8 LED display application capability. Independent LED control allows a subset of the 6 main sections of the display to be used for selected LED lighting applications. In addition to the 6 major banks, the LM3535 can drive an additional 2 independently controlled LED indicators to support the application's capabilities.
The drive current receiver of the LED is divided into three independent control groups. The main group can be configured to drive up to 6 LED displays used in major mobile phones. Groups B and C offer driver assistance displays, keypads and LED indicators. LED current sources can be switched on and off independently, providing flexibility to meet different application needs.
The LM3535 provides multi-zone ambient light sensing (ALS input 1 or 2 options), allowing autonomous backlights to control event intensity under changing ambient light conditions. A PWM input also provides the user with a means to dynamically adjust the backlight intensity after displaying content-based.
The LM3535 provides inductor-free operation at a gain or transfer mode charge pump utilizing excellent efficiency. To maintain current regulation, the forward voltage of the LED is based on appropriate gain selection, thereby maximizing efficiency over the input voltage range.
