The LM3535 is a highly integrated LED driver driven by large parallel 8 LED display application capability. Independent LED control allows 6 main parts of the display to be used for a subset of selected LED lighting applications. In addition to the 6 major banks, the LM3535 can drive an additional 2 independently controlled LED indicators to support the application's capabilities.

The drive current receiver of the LED is divided into three independent control groups. The main group can be configured to drive up to 6 LED displays used in the main mobile phone. Groups B and C offer driver assistance displays, keypads, and LED indicators. The LED current source can be turned on and off independently, providing flexibility to meet different application needs.

The LM3535 provides multi-zone ambient light sensing (depending on the option of ALS input 1 or 2), allowing an autonomous backlight to control event intensity under changing ambient light conditions. A PWM input also provides the user with a means to dynamically adjust the backlight intensity and display the content-based.

The LM3535 offers inductor-free operation in a 3/2 gain or transfer mode charge pump utilizing excellent efficiency. To maintain current regulation on the basis of proper gain selection, the forward voltage of the LED is maximized, thus maximizing efficiency over the input voltage range.

The LM3535 is a miniature 20-bump ball with 0.4mm pitch and a low-profile micro SMD package from National Semiconductor.
