The LM3671 step-down DC-DC converter is optimized for power supply from a single lithium-ion battery and input voltage rail low-voltage circuitry from 2.7V to 5.5V. It can provide up to 600mA of load current over the entire input voltage range. Several different fixed output voltages are available, as well as an adjustable output voltage range from 1.1V to version 3.3.

The device offers superior functionality and performance for mobile phones and similar portable systems. Intelligent switching between automatic PWM low noise and PFM low current modes provides improved system control. In PWM mode, the device operates at a fixed frequency of 2 MHz (typical). Hysteresis PFM mode extends battery life at light loads, reducing standby operation, and quiescent current of 16μA (typical). Internally synchronous rectification PWM mode provides high efficiency during operation. In shutdown mode, the device shuts down, reducing battery consumption to 0.01μA (typical).

The LM3671 is available in SOT23-5 in a 5-bump micro SMD and 6-pin LLP package in both leaded (PB) and lead-free (NO PB) versions. A high switching frequency of 2 MHz (typical) allows for tiny surface-mount components. Only three external surface mount components, an inductor and two ceramic capacitors, are required.
