TheLM3671 step-down DC-to-DC converter is optimized for supplying a low-voltage circuit from 2.7V to 5.5V from a single lithium-ion battery and input voltage rail. It can provide up to 600mA of load current over the entire input voltage range. Several different fixed output voltages are available, as well as a range of adjustable output voltage versions from 1.1V to 3.3V.

The device provides superior performance and the performance of mobile phones and similar portable systems. Intelligent PWM Low Noise and PFM Low Current modes automatically switch to provide improved system control. In PWM mode, the device operates at a fixed frequency of 2 MHz (typical). Hysteresis PFM mode extends battery life and reduces quiescent current to 16μA (typical) under light load and standby. Internally synchronous rectification provides high efficiency during PWM mode operation. In shutdown mode, the device is turned off and the power consumption is reduced to 0.01μA (typical).

The LM3671 is a SOT23-5 package, a tiny 5-bump micro SMD, and a 6-pin LLP package in lead-free (PB) and lead-free (NO PB) versions. A high switching frequency of 2 MHz (typical) allows the use of tiny surface-mount components. Only three external surface mount components, an inductor and two ceramic capacitors, are required.
