TheLM3677 step-down DC-DC converter is optimized to power ultra-low voltage circuits from 2.7V to 5.5V from a single lithium-ion battery and input voltage rail. It can provide up to 600 mA of load current over the entire input voltage range. The LM3677 is available with different fixed output voltage options and a range of adjustable output voltage versions from 1.2V to 3.3V.

The device offers superior functionality and the performance of sophisticated power management systems in mobile phones and similar portable applications. Intelligent PWM Low Noise and PFM Low Current modes automatically switch to provide improved system control. In PWM mode, the device operates at a fixed frequency of 3 MHz (typical). PWM mode from 80 mA to 600 mA maximum load for drives. Hysteresis PFM mode extends battery life and reduces quiescent current to 16μA (typical) under light load and standby. Internal synchronous rectification provides high efficiency. In shutdown mode (enable pin pulled down), the device shuts down and power consumption is reduced to 0.01μA (typical).

The LM3677 is a lead-free (NOPB) 5-bump micro SMD package and a 6-pin LLP package. A 3 MHz (typical) switching frequency allows for the use of tiny surface-mount components. Only three external surface mount components, an inductor and two ceramic capacitors, are required.
