The LM3691 step-down DC-DC converter is optimized for supplying ultra-low voltage circuits from a single Li-ion battery or a 3-cell NiMH/NiCd battery. It can deliver up to 1A of load current with an input voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V. Several different fixed output voltages are available.

The LM3691 has a mode control pin that allows the user to select either PWM mode or power saving mode to change between gated PWM mode and PWM mode to automatically force according to the load.
