The LM3691 step-down DC-DC converter is an ultra-low voltage circuit optimized for power supply from a single Li-ion battery or 3 NiMH/NiCd batteries. It can provide up to 1A of load current with an input voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V. There are several different fixed output voltages available.

The LM3691 has a mode control pin that allows the user to select a gated PWM mode between PWM mode or a change in energy-saving mode and PWM mode to automatically force according to load. In OECD, the LM3691 offers excellent efficiency and very low IQ under light load conditions. ECO mode extension reduces the service life of the battery backup in light load conditions and system backup through quiescent current.

The LM3691 is available in a 6-bump micro SMD package. Only three external surface mount components, a 1μH inductor, a 4.7μF input capacitor, and a 4.7μF output capacitor, are required.
